If the basis of capitalism is competition, and players’ rankings in this ongoing life-contest are delineated by their respective shares in the finite natural resources on earth, then as supplies dwindle, the increasingly preposterous who-are-we-trying-to-kid sham of sustainability gets thrown out of the window and an every-man-for-himself scramble catapults life-as-we-know-it out of control….how then can capitalism not ultimately destroy everything we have worked for?
